Mission Statement
As active Democrats dedicated to fulfilling our responsibilities in a just society, participating in government at all levels, and perpetuating Democratic Party ideals, we hereby establish the Los Cerritos Democratic Club of LA–OC. The objective shall be contributing to the influence, growth, and direction of our fellow Democrats; developing leadership at all levels; promoting harmony; and providing information to the members of our organization and community. Building on the legacy of Gateway Cities Democrats in the Los Cerritos region, we maintain involvement in issues of interest to all.
The Roots of Our Movement: A History of Democratic Clubs in Los Cerritos
The story of the Democratic Party in Southeast Los Angeles County is not one of top-down mandates, but of neighborhood-level grit. While the national party sets the platform, it is the local clubs—our “Democratic Clubs”—that have done the heavy lifting of knocking on doors, registering voters, and holding local officials accountable for over seventy years.
